Weekend in London - Day 10 to 12

Friday was VERY tough! We met in the a.m. for our group project, then had class in the afternoon for a change. Such a long class for "Understanding the Marketplace," which is basically my market research course that I took at University of Ottawa. At the end, we had dinner in residence then went out with our whole class at a local bar in West End Lane. I talked one of my floormates, Wilson from Malaysia, to come out with us. I'm so inclusive!

We went to The Gallery, a pub style bar with great music. Oddly enough, I drank my drinks very fast... Must have been dehydrated. I was so excited to talk to everyone. What works out perfectly with this course is the fact that over the summer holidays, I can visit all of the students in their home countries! A personal tour in every city! We called it a night around 11:45 and headed home together.

The next day, Bas and I went out to Central London together to do a walking tour. We started at Oxford Street and walked all the way down to Piccadilly, then Trafalgar Square and finally Westminster Abbey. There are no words for what I've seen here. I felt bad because I kept holding him back in order to take pictures. I have certainly noticed that other Europeans are not as surprised and impressed by the architecture. Similar buildings in Canada simply do no exist in history or beauty. Everywhere I would look, I couldn't help but wonder "HOW DO YOU BUILD THAT?... AND 200+ YEARS AGO???"

Sunday was another beautiful day. Eleven degrees Celsius in Hampstead! I decided to go for a jog in Hampstead Heath, a very big forested park near Parliament Hill. I found out that I live in a very ritzy area as the top of the hill presented some beautiful and big houses with gates and security cameras at every corner. As I made it up a huge hill in the forest, I rested for a while, really taking it all in. It's tough here sometimes because staying in residence is very convenient but not always allowing you to realize where you are, and what you can do in London.

The park had a section where you could sit on a bench overlooking downtown London. Very beautiful. Further down the path, 30 or so guys were playing soccer. I mustered up the courage to go ask one of them if I could play with them on a weekend. I got his number to find out where to meet up next week. We'll see how that goes!
